Happy GIS Day!

Today is International GIS Day – the day where we celebrate all things GIS!

Why the day of celebration?  GIS is playing a key role in mapping the future of our country, and is helping an increasingly wide range of government and commercial organisations – like councils, state government agencies, mining companies, banks and utilities – to get more out of their data using the common factor of location.

GIS professionals from almost 100 Australian organisations are all taking time out today to share their passion for GIS with their colleagues and the community,  hosting GIS Day events ranging from morning teas, geography competitions, information sessions, and of course, eating lots of GIS Day cake!

Here at Esri Australia,  our offices across the country will all be having a morning tea to celebrate GIS Day.  We’ll share photos of the festivities with you this arvo!

Are you celebrating GIS Day?  Let us know and share your own photos via Facebook.
