Well, it certainly has been a busy day here at Ozri 2011.
Today was the first full day of presentations, and we had some great ones…
The morning kicked off with the plenary, which I think you’ll agree was both inspiring and moving. Between Dr Sohail Inayatullah’s fascinating discussion on futurism, and Major General Dick Wilson’s powerful presentation on the reconstruction efforts following the Queensland Floods and Tropical Cyclone Yasi – delegates certainly got an interesting look at the increasingly varied role of spatial technology!
The afternoon is where we really got down to business – with four simultaneous steams of presentations covering off on everything from What’s New in Desktop and Server, to Gov 2.0, to the role of GIS in the business and insurance world, to designing a GIS for the Facebook generation.
We even had someone from Landgate show us a Bushfire Simulator which will be at the core of Australia’s first ever national emergency alert system.
And the day’s not over yet – the hype is building around tonight’s Gala Dinner… we have some special surprises lined up to celebrate Ozri’s 25th birthday!
We’re off to get ready – but will report back soon!
