Meet Nathaniel Meyer – one of Esri Australia’s senior consultants – and a specialist in ArcGIS for Desktop and geodatabases. To help you get to know Nathaniel better, he spent five minutes in the hot seat answering our questions.

EA: Tell us about your role as a senior consultant/trainer at Esri Australia what are you responsible for?
NM: I’m a member of the training team where I am responsible for developing new eLearning content and mentoring our extended training family. I am also responsible for delivering the geodatabase and desktop courses.

EA: What do you love most about your job?
NM: The opportunity to constantly learn new things, working within a team of passionate GIS professionals, and being able to get out and about to meet clients and help them improve their GIS skills.

Add to your GIS toolkit with new workshops

A series of new hands-on workshops have just been made available. Originally debuted at Ozri 2015, the workshops cover a range of topics including ArcGIS Pro, web apps and Python and vary in length from half-day to full day.

Featuring practical content delivered by Esri Australia’s certified technical specialists, these workshops offer GIS professionals the chance to get better acquainted with ArcGIS Pro, AppStudio for ArcGIS and customer analytics, while programmers can sharpen their Python skills with an ArcPy session.

EA: Tell us about the responsibilities of
your role as an Esri Australia Professional Services senior consultant?

JB: In my role within the training leadership group, I work closely with clients –
particularly within the national security sector – to develop and implement strategic workforce capability and training plans based on organisational roles and responsibilities. I also develop new training methods and materials and provide training services to our broad range of clients.

Ozri 2015 GIS Generations

Ozri 2015 day two plenary:

Following a jam-packed first day at Ozri, topped off by an amazing night of wining, dining and live performances from Ross ‘Daddy Cool’ Wilson and X Factor favourite Jason Heerah, many delegates were in need of a little pick-me-up.

Thankfully, MapData Services came prepared, giving everyone chilled Powerade to kick start the morning.

Re-energised and ready for what was in store for Ozri day-two, Esri Australia Professional Services Executive Manager Jeff Robinson officially opened the plenary and welcomed 2015 Special Achievement in GIS (SAG) Award recipient, the Victorian Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning (DELWP) to the stage.

Ozri 2015 GIS Generations

Ozri 2015 is underway in Melbourne!

The countdown is finally over for Ozri 2015 as the conference kicked-off last night at the lively welcome function.

A chance for the GIS community to catch-up with old friends as well as meet new geospatial professionals – conference delegates, special guests and Esri Australia staff enjoyed a casual drink, delicious food and a sneak peak of the new innovation zone.

Extend your training budget into the next financial year

It’s that time of year again, and with the end of financial year (EOFY) in sight, I thought I would share a tip on how to get the most out of your training budget this year – but for next year’s gain.

Common feedback we receive from users says by the time EOFY rolls around, many have surplus training funds to spend, however, no time to use them by the 30 June deadline.

In response to this feedback, we have developed a simple solution which gives you flexibility and greater control over your training for the next financial year – Learning and Services Units.

Meet Andrew White – one of Esri Australia’s Consultants and a specialist in ArcGIS for Desktop and Server. We spent five minutes with Andrew to find out what inspires him to help clients reach their full GIS potential.

EA: Tell us about your role as a Consultant for Professional Services at Esri Australia – what are you responsible for?

AW: In my support role, I assist clients with any ArcGIS Desktop and Server queries they may have. As a trainer, I teach the ArcGIS foundation courses, including: Introduction to GIS, Essential Workflows and Performing Analysis.

EA: What do you love most about your job?

AW: The diversity of my role, working in a team, and the opportunity to share my GIS knowledge with others – whether it be through teaching a course or providing technical support to clients.

DB: I am a member of the training team where I am responsible for working with clients to create workforce capability plans and suitable training plans for organisations based on their internal roles and responsibilities. I am also involved in the development of new training methods and materials, mentoring members of the training team as well as delivering training to clients.

EA: What do you love most about your job?
